Bhubaneswar: Begunia MLA Prasanta Jagadev found himself in yet another controversy of losing temper on Tuesday when Bolgarh Tahsildar Niharika Nayak alleged him of assaulting her by throwing a lantern on her. The duo had a debate regarding an eviction issue in Ekadalua village in the tehsil.
Tahsildar Niharika alleged that the MLA asked her to ensure eviction of a certain house in the village that she assured will be done after formal measurements are taken the next day. “But he insisted it be done tonight. And in rage threw a lantern at me,” she said. Supporting her and protesting against Jagadev’s behaviour, the Tehsil office staff have staged a dharna and demanded arrest of the MLA.
Meanwhile, BJD workers have reached the site and started sloganeering against the Tahsildar to show their support to Jagadev who rubbished the allegations.
“I never threw the lantern at her. Another person threw it when she entered the spot. I had arranged for an eviction of a house built on the road which the Tehsil officials failed to conduct. When I was discussing the matter with the house owners they misbehaved with me,” said Jagadev.
Notably, Jagadev was twice in news last month for losing his temper. While once he was caught abusing BJP workers and advised BJD members to assault them physically, in another incident near his quarter, he used profanity against two men running a roadside food stall.
His 2014 election declaration mentioned three criminal cases against him.
