Soro: Unidentified miscreants looted valuables and cash worth lakhs of rupees from as many as four temples at Sabira village under Soro police limits in Balasore district late on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the loot has been committed at the Radha Krushna, Patrasuni, Jagulei and Hanuman temple in the village.
The looters broke hundis (donation boxes) and decamped with ornaments and cash stashed inside the donation boxes.
The matter came to fore after a priest opened the gate of the Radhakrishna temple and found the lock of the main door broken. He informed the matter to villagers following which villagers gathered and other temples were also found looted. Empty donation boxes were also found at a field near the village.
An FIR has been lodged by the temple authorities following which Soro police has begun investigation into the case.
