Balasore: In an incident of deteriorating law and order in the state, four miscreants today looted a whopping amount of Rs 60 lakh cash after firing at toll booth employees on NH-5 in Balasore district following which one staff was injured.
The victim, identified as Pradip Yadav, an employee of the toll booth at Sergarh in the district and 2 others were on their way in an Indigo car with cash of Rs 60 lakh to deposit it in a bank when the miscreants in another car intercepted their vehicle just 5 km away from the toll booth. One of the miscreants fired at their vehicle and when the toll staffs ran out of the car, the miscreants fled from the spot with the cash in a briefcase.
Pradip received a bullet injury in the incident and was admitted at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.
According to sources, the miscreants fled from the spot in a vehicle with registration number – OR 01S 6820. Even as the incident occurred just 100 meters away from the Sadar Police Station, the miscreants are still at large.
