Bhubaneswar: A daylight robbery on Friday at a paying guest accommodation for women in Chandrasekharpur has raised eyebrows on the law and order situation in the Capital.
Two masked men armed with knives barged into women’s PG in Niladri Vihar on Friday afternoon and tied the hands of women tenants before robbing Rs 8,700 from them. Most of tenants are software professionals in various companies here.
The two miscreants, who had trespassed into the building, are auto-rickshaw drivers, and were aware that in the afternoon most of the tenants will be away for work. Moreover, there are no security guards deployed in the building. One of the neighbours of the PG, noticed the miscreants while they came out of the building and informed police.
A PCR vehicle was patrolling in the area rushed to the spot and nabbed the duo. The arrested are Khirod Kumar Sahu (28) of Housing Board Lane Basti in Chandrasekharpur and Nihar Ranjan Behura (24) of District Centre in Chandrasekharpur. While Khirod is originally a native of Jajpur, Nihar is a native of Kendrapara.
