Miscreants attack medicine store owner, flee with Rs 5 lakh in Balasore

Balasore: Unidentified miscreants attacked a youth and fled with around Rs 5 lakh cash and gold ornaments when he was returning home late at night yesterday under Kamarda police limits in the district.

He was rescued by the locals and rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The victim has been identified as Pradeepta Ranjan Das (40).

According to reports, at around 11.10 pm last night Pradeepta was returning back his home in Khalabadia village closing his medicine store located at bus stand. A group of unidentified miscreants attacked him with a crowbar from his backside on Khalabadia road following which he fell down.

The wrongdoers attacked him and looted Rs 5 lakh cash he was carrying with him and the gold ornaments he had wore – gold chain, ring – along with his bike.

Locals gathered at the spot hearing his scream and rushed him to nearby hospital in a critical condition. Later, he was shifted to Jaleswar hospital and further to SCB Hospital in Cuttack as his health condition deteriorated.

Police have launched probe into the incident registering a case.
