Bhubaneswar: A month after the tragic fire outbreak in Sum hospital, a minor fire incident occurred in the city’s Apollo hospital. However, the incident was well taken care of with no loss or damage to property or lives whatsoever.
A minor short circuit occurred at around 7:00 pm in the switch board situated in the lift machine room on the terrace of service block on the premises of Apollo Hospitals. The incident occurred in the service block and not in the main hospital building.
Hospital sources said, automatically fire detection system got activated raising the fire alarm. The trained hospital fire and maintenance department teams rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of fire extinguishers.
“Parallaly, as a protocol, the hospital informed the Fire Service Department, Govt. of Odisha which also responded promptly. There is neither any casualty nor any damage to property,” informed CEO Sudhir M Diggikar.
Notably, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar is well equipped with all fire detection and fire fighting systems and is one of the few hospitals with proper fire safety measures and the fire safety certificate, said police sources.
