Srinagar: Eight family members of five police personnel have been abducted by terrorists, who barged into their houses at South Kashmir on Thursday evening.
According to reports, terrorists targeted the family members of policemen residing in Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam districts and abducted them.
Among the kidnapped are the brother of a policeman posted in Srinagar and the son of another policeman who works as a cook at police training centre.
Taking serous note of the strike, police forces are carrying out a huge rescue operation to trace the abducted family members and the militants hiding in the area.
Notably, a policeman was kidnapped from his home in Pulwama district and released after being questioned and then thrashed on Thursday.
Earlier, terrorist were targeting public and army officials but from last few days, police personnel are on target. This is the first time in the last 28 years of militancy in Kashmir when families of policemen have been targeted.
