Migrant Labourer from Kendrapara goes missing in Malaysia

Kendrapara: An Odia migrant labourer of Baburampatana village under Sadar police limits in Kendrapara district has gone missing in Malaysia.

The missing labourer, identified as Khetrabashi Sahoo, of the village had gone to Malaysia in September in search of work through an agency in Kolkata.

According to the sources, Khetrabashi had permission to stay in Malaysia till November 29.

The matter came to light after an unidentified person called his parents and told them that their son had been arrested and his life is at risk now.

Following which, Khetrabasi’s family members informed the district administration about the matter. They have also urged Odisha Chief Minister, Prime Minister of India and Ministry of External Affairs to intervene in the matter.

The District Labour Department has sent a letter to the Labour Commissioner regarding his repatriation, Kendrapada Labour officer Kalpana Mishra informed.
