Bhawanipatna: Maoists have kidnapped three villagers in Karlapata village of Thuamula Rampur block at late night on Wednesday. The news has caused panic in regions with Maoist influence in the state.

At around 2 am on Wednesday night, 20 armed Maoists reportedly entered the Karlapata village and abducted three people including the Grama Rakshi. The abducted people are Banamali Nayak, Hari Pradhan and Sudar Nayak, the Grama Rakshi.

Terror has gripped the region after the incident following which the locals are not stepping out of houses from evening and not going to the forest area out of fear. Villagers said the Maoists had kidnapped the three people doubting their links with administration as police informers.

Police is yet to take any major step over the incident.
