Tangi: A married man was allegedly murdered for his alleged illicit affair with a woman at Kalupada of Rajendrapur village under Tangi police limits in Khurda district.
The body of Biswaranjan Sethi, a resident of Balinasi village, was fished out from a pond on Thursday. He had been missing since yesterday.
The police detained three persons—Dasa Sahu, Bhasia Sahu and Chamili Sahu—all residents of Rajendrapur, in connection with the death.
According to sources, Biswaranjan had developed love affair with the wife of Dasa. As Biswaranjan was also married, his love affair with the married woman triggered quarrel between the two families earlier.
On Wednesday, Biswaranjan went to Rajendrapur to meet the woman when her husband and his relatives jointly attacked him. Subsequently, Biswaranjan went missing.
Later, the police and firefighters fished out the body of the deceased from a pond near Dasa’s house.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s wife Sujata and father Anil Sethi demanded stringent punished for the culprits. Further inquiry is underway, police said.
