Bhadrak: A man sustained grievous injury after he was attacked by his son-in-law over past enmity in Kusunupur village under Karanjamal panchayat in the district on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Bhagaban Behera of Kusunupur village.
According to police, the incident occurred this morning when Behera was returning home after grazing his cattle. On the way, Bikash Parida identified as the accused intercepted Behera and abused him with slang language. In a fit of rage Parida took out a sharp weapon and attacked Behera in which he sustained critical injury. Meanwhile, Parida fled the spot soon after the crime.
He was rushed to the Bainga hospital and was later shifted to Basudevpur hospital as his condition deteriorated.
A complaint was lodged by Behera with Bangada police against Parida. Further investigation is underway to nab the absconding, said a police official.
According to sources, Parida married Behera’s daughter Sabita by abducting her and later took her to Bengaluru in Karnataka. Parida returned village after Sabita died due to an unknown reason few days ago. Regarding which Behera lodged a complaint against him and he was arrested as per the complaint of Behera. However, Parida got bail and committed the crime.
