Bhubaneswar: The three day annual mammal census of Bhitarkanika national park would begin from November 19, official sources said.
The census would be carried out in Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary, Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary, Rajnagar wildlife division.
The national park which is all set to be included in the World Heritage Site after its official inspection was done earlier on Friday by some members of UNSECO is a major tourist attraction in eastern India.
Meanwhile official sources said there will be no ban on the tourist entry into the park during the census programme.
Earlier last year forest officials counted 6213 mammals of 15 species notably deers, boars, sambars, fishing cats, foxes, hyenas, rhesus macaques, leopards.
Notably, the mammal census was initiated for the first time during 2014 and thereafter the their population trend has shown health signs of growth.
