Bhubaneswar: The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday saw some major decisions including three departments being renamed to make work faster. The names of Women and Child development, General Administration and Panchayati Raj have been changed.
The Women and Child development department will now become Women and Child development and Mission Shakti department to lay stress on the Mission Shakti schemes for which a directorate will also be set up while Panchayati Raj has been changed to Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Supply department with the focus shifted to providing clean drinking water to rural areas.
The General Administration department has been merged with Public grievance cell and now the new name of the department becomes General Administration and public grievance department.
Some major decisions were also taken in the cabinet meeting under which 200 acres subsidised land will be provided for Berhampur IISER set up and water tax rebate will be provided to industries. Water tax has been reduced from 24% to 12% for industries.
