Bhubaneswar: BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab hosted a lavish wedding for son Lokaranjan in New Delhi. Interestingly, while senior Mahtab is often eloquent against BJP, the junior Mahtab tied the nuptial knot with senior BJP leader and Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s neice.
The wedding on Tuesday saw more BJP leaders than BJD though Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had attended the engagement ceremony earlier in New Delhi.
Among top BJP leaders present at the marriage function were Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, former minister and veteran leader Shahnawaz Hussain, MP Nishikant Dubey and many others. Also, Samajwadi party leaders Amar Singh, and former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar’s son Neeraj Shekhar were among the guests.
BJD leaders who attended the wedding ceremony were Industries Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, Pravat Tripathy and Chandra Sarathi Behera and party members Rabi Samal and Upendra Padhi.
Last month, Bhartruhari Mahtab had made a statement regarding possibility of BJD supporting Congress in future which attracted criticism from all quarters in BJD as well as from BJP leaders. In fact, BJD supremo Patnaik had rejected such possibility within 24 hours of Mahtab’s statement and the latter was even asked for an explanation that he hasn’t yet made.
