Paradip: Industrialist Mahima Mishra, Managing Director of Orissa Stevedores Ltd. (OSL) applied for anticpatory bail in the High Court on Friday in connection with Seaways Shipping and Logistics Ltd (SSLL) manager Mahendra Swain murder case. Mishra has also challenged the Lookout Circular issued by Jagatsinghpur police against him.
Advocates Jaydip Pal and Dharandidhar Nayak are representing Mishra in the Court. OSL GM Basant Bal and two other accused in the case Debi Prasad Tripathy and Subhas Acharya have also applied for anticipatory bail.
The police had on Thursday confirmed involvement of Mishra and OSL members in the murder after arrest and interrogation of main accused Rakesh Choubey from Jharkhand who had revealed the modus operandi of the firing on October 26 that claimed Swain’s life. Police had informed that Mishra had paid Choubey Rs 12 lakh initially for the murder.
Central Range IG Soumendra Priyadarshi informed that the police had evidence of Mishra and Choubey travelling together in a flight to devise the plan.
Earlier, Mishra had been mentioned among accused in connection with 1998 Paradip Phosphate Limited (PPL) labour union leader Bichitra Nanda Mallick murder, a 1995 kidnapping case and various crimes in Bhubaneswar and Angul.
