Low pressure to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha in next 24 hours
Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours, due to a low pressure formation over North Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department said.
Under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Bangladesh today, the regional meteorological centre here said.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Maurbhanj districts, while Sundergarh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur may experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, it said.
Strong gusty surface winds from northeasterly direction in north coastal Odisha and winds from westerly direction in south coastal Odisha with speeds of 40-55 kmph are likely to prevail along and off the Odisha Coast.
The sea condition would be moderate to rough along the coast, the MeT office said, cautioning fishermen to not venture into the sea waters.
