Looting, snatching gang busted in Bhubaneswar, 7 held

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday busted a gang involved in looting and snatching in Odisha capital and arrested seven youths.

Police have also seized 7 mobile phones, 3 choppers, 2 knives, 2 cutting blades, 2 packets of chilly powder, 4 iron rods and 2 razors from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Sanjaya Kumar Das of Nilakanthanagar, Biswajit Das of Swadhin Nagar, Sumant Digal of Shakti Vihar, Kasinath Ready of Santoshi Nagar, Kasinath Patra of Srirama Nagar, Ganga Ready of Basti Bikash Parisad, Jitendra Pradhan of Ekamra Vihar.

According to police, they decided to form a gang after meeting each other in jail. They used to target senior citizens and morning walkers.

Each of them have criminal background as two or three cases have been registered against each.

Nayapali Police has filed a case in this regard under Section 399/402 of IPC. The accused will be forwarded to the court later today.
