Bhubaneswar: The State Legislative Assembly was adjourned till 3 pm today amidst ruckus created by opposition Congress and BJP legislators demanding the appointment of Lokayukta in Odisha at the earliest.
Several Congress and BJP legislators rushed to the well sloganeering in support of their demands as soon as the House assembled for the day.
The Opposition MLAs were also seen holding placards levelling corruption charges against Naveen Government.
In view of the noisy scenario, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat appealed the agitating members to go back to their respective seats. He also said that he has to adjourn the House if members do not want to run the business.
Later, the speaker adjourned the House till 3 pm today.
Both Congress and BJP members had created ruckus for two consecutive days by demanding either a ruling from the Speaker or a clarification from the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard.
Notably, Odisha government is yet to appoint the Lokayukta and implement the Odisha Lokayukta Act even though the Bill has got President’s assent in 2015.
