LeT terrorist killed, cop injured in J&K encounter

Srinagar: One terrorist was killed while a policeman sustained bullet injuries in an exchange of fire between the militants and police forces in Anantnag district of Jammu Kashmir on Saturday.

According to sources, police conducted search operation after getting reliable inputs of presence of militants in Anantnag area. During search operation, gunfire took place between the police and the militants.

While a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was gunned down in retaliation, a police personnel sustained bullet injuries. The injured police personnel was shifted to a hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

The militant who was killed is yet to be identified. He was involved in carrying out civilian atrocities and terror attacks on security forces in the area, a senior official said.

Search operation and cordoning off of the area is underway to nab other terrorists in the area.
