Leopard skin seized in Sambalpur, two detained

Sambalpur: A leopard skin was seized by a Special Squad of CID, Crime Branch, on Wednesday at Kisinda in Sambalpur district. Two persons were detained also in this connection.

Those detained have been identified as Akei Sahu (70), a native of Kanchanpur and Bishal Saha (21), of Kumbharpara.

According to reports, following inputs from National Wildlife Board, the Special Squad conducted raid while the accused were carrying the leopard skin in an air bag for disposal inside Kanchanpur forest and nabbed the duo with seizure of the skin.

A case has been registered in this regard under Sections 379/411/34/120-B B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

The detainees are being interrogated to ascertain details.
