Bhubaneswar: In order to get a deep insight into the functioning of the Legislative Councils in other states, a committee formed by the Odisha Government would visit Andhra Pradesh and Bihar soon.
The committee will study the formation and functioning of the Legislative Councils in these states and submit a report to the state government. A proposal in this regard was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday, a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said.
Notably, there were demands from several quarters for the formation of Legislative Council in Odisha like other states. Keeping this in view, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2015 had formed a committee headed by Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu. The committee had visited Maharashtra and Karnataka to learn about the way of formation and functioning of Legislative Councils.
