Late Congress MLA Subal Sahu’s family may join BJD
Bhubaneswar: In a major setback to the Congress ahead of the upcoming assembly bypoll in Bijepur, the family of late MLA Subal Sahu decided to join BJD on September 23.
Subal Sahu’s wife Rita Sahu and her sons Sumit and Saurabh, along with their supporters, will join the ruling BJD on September 23, reports said.
“The family members of late Bijepur MLA Subal Sahu has expressed their willingness to join the BJD and party supremo Naveen Patnaik has appreciated the move, said Bhatli BJD MLA and Labour Minister Sushant Singh.
They will officially join BJD at Naveen Nivas on September 23, he added.
However, the candidate for the vacant constituency in Bargarh district is yet to be finalized, the minister concluded.
It is speculated that his wife may get a ticket to contest the bypoll.
Notably, the three-time Congress MLA from Bijepur assembly constituency, Subal Sahu, died at the age of 56 on August 22 following a prolonged illness.
