Keonjhar: Two persons sustained critical injuries following a landmine explosion in Binida village under Sadar forest ranger in Keojhar district on Saturday morning.
According to sources, the incident took place when the brother duo was in the nearby farmland. unfortunately, they stepped on a countrymade-landmine planted in the crop fields.
The two injured siblings were initially rushed to the nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
On being informed, police rushed to the blast site and initiated a probe into the incident.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the landmine was planted with a purpose to kill wild elephants, said the police. However, who plated the landmines is yet to be known, the police added.
