Patna: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad hit back at Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday and said the JD (U) leader was a master of the volte-face, flitting from one camp to another when it served his interest.
“Nitish is a ‘paltu-ram’. He is a political turncoat. I’ve lost count of the number of times he has changed his stance and his allegiance for the sake of power,” Lalu said at a press conference.
Nitish has probably forgotten what he was, where he came from. He had lost assembly elections twice in past. He also faced defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, he added.
The RJD chief further alleged that Nitish had used my sons as pawn to get back into the BJP fold.
Nitish Kumar last week ended his two-year mahagatbandhan or grand alliance with Lalu Yadav and the Congress and revived his partnership with the BJP after an acrimonious parting four years ago.
Last Wednesday, in a shock move, Bihar chief minister Nitish left the ‘grand alliance’ and allied with the BJP. He claimed his move was inspired by “conscience” as he couldn’t possibly support RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his son who was deputy CM, Tejashwi Yadav, following their being named in a CBI corruption case.
