Cuttack: All the publicity of the commissionerate police has laid behind, when the case pertaining to harassment of a woman journalist in a moving bus was closed on Tuesday. Stating the reason, police said that the lady did not want to file a written complaint in this regard.
As per police, the accused was not a regular passenger, he could not be identified. Speaking to the media, Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania has said that the girl being satisfied with the investigation does not want to proceed with the investigation. Besides, police said that the girl was not willing to register a written complaint.
Khurania informed that there were some issues on the part of telecom service providers for which the PCR could not get the call made by the girl.
Police was investigating the case on the basis of the girl’s Facebook post where she blamed police and administration for failing to provide security to a woman traveler like her.
However, it may be noted that the lady journalist, on March 29, had said she was travelling in the bus from Pattamundai to Bhubaneswar around 7.30 am. Around 60 passengers were travelling in the bus. A man boarded the bus at Kendrapada and started groping her. After protesting her misconduct, he did not stop. He kept misbehaving with her for nearly an hour till the bus reached Cuttack. Forhelp, she had dialed 100 and 1091, but found unresponded.
