New Delhi: Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth continued his brilliant form as he beat reigning Olympic champion Chen Long in straight games 22-20, 21-16 in the men’s singles final to clinch the Australian Open Super Series title on Sunday.
This is Srikanth’s second consecutive Super Series title after he won the Indonesia Open Super Series crown.
The Indian badminton star produced one of the best displays of his career to completely outwit and outplay the World No.6.
Srikanth had reached the final of the Singapore Open in April and Indonesia Open before this tournament and has thus become only the fifth player in the world and the first Indian male shuttler to contest three consecutive Super Series finals.
As a reward to Srikanth’s accomplishment, Badminton Association of India (BAI) president Himanta Biswa Sarma announced Rs 5 lakh cash reward for the shuttler.
