Phulbani: Police arrested three persons including the former husband a female teacher for allegedly kidnapping her from Dangesiguda under Tumudibandha block of Kandhamal district.
The accused have been identified as Srikant Majhi, the former husband of the victim and a teacher of Badabanga Primary School, and his two associates, Chagala Majhi and Nasir Majhi. The police have seized an SUV from them which was used in the kidnapping.
The trio had allegedly abducted, Suprava Majhi, a teacher of Dangeshiguda Upper Primary School. Two others involved in the abduction are still on the run, said Tumudibandha inspector-in-charge BS Saraf. The rescued teacher has been handed over to their family, he added.
According to sources, Suprava had married the accused teacher in 2015. However, they started living separately since 2017 and Srikant had been trying to convince her to live together. As she refused, the accused along with his two associates had abducted her in an SUV from her school on Friday.
The school headmaster Birendra Diggal had lodged a complaint in this regard.
