Bhubaneswar: Due to incessant heavy rainfall, some regions of Rayagada district have been affected by severe flooding since on Saturday night. Many villages have come under inundation and many other marooned.
Two bridges have been washed away resulting in disruption of communication to the areas.
4 helicopters of Indian Air Force have been reached today. On the other hand, ODRAF and Odisha Fire Service, CRPF are in the spot and doing rescue and relief.
Earlier, in view of flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall in Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada district, Odisha government had sought four helicopters from Centre for rescue operations.
There is a flash flood in Kalyansinghpur of Rayagada in Rivers Nagavalli and Kalyani.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed flash flood situations in Rayagada district at SRC office.
The food packets will be dropped from air if required, said Special Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra.
Notably, road communication between Rayagada and Bhawanipatna has been disrupted as flood water is now flowing on the major road in the area which is now completely cut-off.
Due to heavy rain causing flood situation in Rayagada District of Odisha, Railway Bridge Number 585 between Theruvali & Singapur Road Railway Stations in Titilagarh-Rayagada Railway Section washed out.
