Bhubaneswar: Twin city gets relief from the rising heat wave by ‘Kalbaisakhi’ thunder showers and cold breeze on yesterday afternoon.
In the morning it was a bit sunny while the sky appeared cloudy after 3 pm and the nonseasonal rain started drizzling at 5.30 pm in several parts of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
However, the amount of rainfall received in various parts of the state varied, Bhubaneswar received the highest rainfall of 10 mm recorded by Meteorological Department.
Residents here enjoyed the frequent drizzles with their afternoon tea beholding the ecstatic weather while most of the roads around the city found flooded due to this heavy shower.
The rainfall occurred due to the influence of trough line extending from foot of Himalayas-Odisha to Telengana. The State Meteorological Department predicts the rainfall to hit Angul, Dhenkanal and Jajpur in next 24 hours.
The cloudy weather is predicted to last till 13th this month and the temperature will rise steadily from 15th.
