Jakarta: The Indian squash players Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal won bronze medals in women’s singles and men’s singles category respectively on the seventh day of Asian games on Saturday.
Saurav loses 3-2 despite leading 2-0 to Hong Kong AU Chun Ming while Joshna lost 1-3 to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the semi-finals.
Notably, Dipika Pallikal opened India’s account on the Day 7 of the Asian Games 2018 on Saturday as she bagged a bronze medal in women’s singles squash.
For Pallikal it is her third medal at the Asian Games. She won a silver in 2014 in Women’s team squash event and a bronze in Women’s singles event at the same event.
Joshna entered to the semi-final after defeating Hong Kong’s Chan Ho Ling by 11-5,12-10, 5-11, 12-10 on Friday.
India stood at ninth position in the medals tally with 6 gold, 5 silver and 17 bronze.
