Rayagada: Police arrested a youth from Baladia village under Kalyansinghpur police limits in Rayagada district today for stabbing a 23-year-old girl after she rejected his love advances.
According to reports, the accused identified as Kuruma Praska and the victim girl who happens to be a residence of neighbouring Kanipai village were in love for last one year.
However, it went wrong after the girl developed a relationship with another boy at a later stage and stopped talking to the accused. Getting frustrated over the rejection he was under immense mental stress.
The accused reached his lover’s house last Wednesday and gave her a proposal of marriage, which had been rejected by the latter.
In a fit of rage over the rejection, the accused stabbed the girl with a knife and then consumed poison from a bottle he was carrying with.
While both were rushed to Kalyansinghpur CHC in critical condition by their family members the girl was later shifted to a private hospital in Berhampur due to deteriorating condition.
The victim girl’s family lodged a case against him at Kalyansinghpur Police Station in this regard.
“The girl and the youth were earlier in a relationship which was broken up by the girl recently. Frustrated over the rejection, the youth attacked the girl with knife and later consumed poison,” said Inspector-in-charge of Kalyansinghpur police station, Kapilendra Behera.
