New Delhi: The national level engineering and medical entrance examinations –JEE Main and NEET –will be conducted twice a year from 2019, announced HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Javadekar said the newly formed examination conducting agency, National Testing Agency (NTA), will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET). He said millions of students will be benefited from it.
Apart from NEET and JEE Main, NTA will also conduct National Eligibility Test (NET), Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) exams from now on. The NTA will conduct computer-based test. It will make exams safe, leak-proof, scientific and transparent, the HRD minister said.
The minister further said that the syllabus, nature of questions, choice of language and examination fees will not change. It will remain as it is.
“The main feature is that student will not lose one year because there will be two examinations before admission. The students can appear in either of the two or both. The best score will be taken into account for the result,” Javadekar went on to state.
Sources said the JEE examination will be held in January and April and NEET will be conducted in February and May.
The practice module will be made available at http://www.nta.ac.in from August 1. From August end, students can practice, if needed in the nearby engineering colleges and CBSE/KV schools.
