Bhubaneswar: About 45,000 students from the state appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) examination organised by Central Board of Secondary Education, on Sunday.
The examination was conducted at 82 centres in six cities including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Berhampur.
The CBSE conducts JEE (Main), an all-India level engineering entrance examination, for admission into the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), deemed universities and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI).
The test paper had 90 questions for 360 marks. There were 3 parts in the question paper – physics, chemistry and mathematics.
The candidates who appeared for the examination were not allowed to take pen, pencil, watch or no electronic gadgets inside the examination hall.
Till 2013, admissions into engineering and architecture colleges in the state were conducted through Odisha Joint Entrance Examination.
Apart there is also an option of taking the exam online, which will be held on April 8 and 9.
The JEE (Main) examination will be followed by the JEE (Advanced) examination that will be held on May 21.
However, the result of JEE (Main) is expected to be declared on April 27.
