JE vaccination: Door to door survey begins


Bhubaneswar: The door to door survey for collection of data before the ensuing Japanese Encephalitis vaccination programme in Malkangiri begun on Sunday.

As part of the process kids from age 1 to 15 years will be included in the survey data and accordingly vaccine inoculation will be done.

The district administration has constituted 890 teams with each team comprising a local teacher, ASHA and Anganwadi workers to make the headcount. The survey which will continue for three days up until November 22 will be monitored by a panchayat level officer.

It is to be noted that vaccination is due to begin from first week of December in four districts including Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj.

All this while the death toll has crossed above hundred as a recent report by a central level expert saying that besides JE death cases have also resulted due to poisoning from consumption of raw chakunda seeds resulting in Encephalopathy.
