New Delhi: Indian shooter Hriday Hazarika bagged a gold medal in the 10m air rifle junior men’s event of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships on Friday.
The 17-year-old Indian claimed the top honour after prevailing in a shoot-off at the prestigious ISSF tournament.
Hazarika qualified for final with a score of 627.3 and was tied with Iran’s Mohammed Amir Nekounam on 250.1. The first shot in the shoot-off decided the gold medal, where Hazarika shot a 10.3 and Nekounam shot 10.2.
He grabbed the gold medal with a difference of just 0.1 points while the bronze went to Russia’s Grigorii Shamakov, who managed a score of 228.6 in the final.
Hazarika was the only Indian to qualify for the final with a score of 627.3.
