New Delhi: The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a red corner notice (RCN) against diamond merchant Nirav Modi, his brother Neeshal Modi and close aide Subhash Parab in connection with the Punjab National Bank loan fraud.
According to sources, the red corner notices were issued against Nirav Modi, Neeshal Modi and Subhash Parab in CBI & ED case related to cheating, criminal conspiracy, corruption & money laundering.
Last month, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had approached the Interpol seeking issuance of RCN against Nirav Modi.
In the Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued against a fugitive, the Interpol asks its 192 member-countries to arrest or detain the person if he/she is spotted in their countries after which extradition or deportation proceedings can begin.
Officials said that the international arrest warrant (RCN) has been issued against Modi after the Interpol was satisfied with CBI and ED’s charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, corruption and money laundering.
At present, Nirav Modi reportedly is hiding in Belgium after he was last seen moving from London to Brussels on June 12.
