Cuttack: Police have traced a burglary gang, which was wanted for committing housebreaks and thefts in the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur and Bhadrak. The Choudwar police have arrested three persons of the gang while investigating into one such incident that had taken place at Nuntikiri village under the Choudwar police station late last month.
Briefing media on Tuesday, the area’s ACP Trinath Mishra said at least five persons broke open the house of one Dibyasingh Panda on the intervening night of May 29 and 30 and decamped with cash, gold ornaments and utensils. Police recovered some stolen articles from a Baleswar-based goldsmith, who was the receiver of the stolen items.
Besides the receiver, the police arrested two key members of the gang while raids were on to nab other members of the gang. The arrested burglars were wanted in at least 11 cases pending against them at several police stations of the three districts, Mishra said.
