Bhubaneswar: The Kharavel Nagar police on Sunday night intercepted a woman near the city railway station in an inebriated state. When the police questioned her, she allegedly abused them and even tried to assault them.
During search by the police, an Aadhaar card bearing name of Duniya Khan from Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi was found from her possession. The police also recovered cash of Rs 49,500, a bottle of liquor and an expensive mobile handset from her. The police are trying to ascertain if the Aadhaar card details are genuine.
City DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, “The accused is to be forwarded to court today, adding, while an Aadhaar card with a Delhi address was found from her possession, her identity is still suspicious”.
“A Facebook profile on the name of one Zeboo Asalina was found to be created using the phone number given by the woman in her Aadhaar card. The photographs of the arrested woman and the Facebook profile pictures of Zeboo Asalina matched. So, we suspected her Aadhaar card to be forged,” he said.
The police said the woman was arrested under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 341 (wrongful restraint), 294 (use of obscene language) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his or her duty) of the Indian Penal Code. The police will now write to the Uzbekistan embassy to verify the claim made by the accused woman.
The woman has been sent to Jharpara jail after her bail application was rejected.
