New Delhi: Indra Nooyi would step down as the chief executive officer (CEO) of PepsiCo Inc after holding the top position of the multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation for 12 years.
PepsiCo Inc made the announcement on Monday on its Twitter handle and said Nooyi would step down from the top post on October 3 this year. Nooyi (62) has been with PepsiCo Inc for 24 years and 12 years as CEO.
“After 12 years as CEO, Indra K. Nooyi will step down Oct 3, 2018. Her leadership and vision propelled our performance, transformed our company and embedded sustainability into everything we do. Thank you, @IndraNooyi!,” the company tweeted.
Nooyi will hand over the reign to Ramon Laguarta, who has been with the company for 22 years. However, she will remain chairman of the company until early 2019 to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
Nooyi took to the Twitter to inform about the development.
“Today is a day of mixed emotions for me. @PepsiCo has been my life for 24 years & part of my heart will always remain here. I’m proud of what we’ve done & excited for the future. I believe PepsiCo’s best days are yet to come,” she wrote.
“Ramon Laguarta is exactly the right person to help build on @PepsiCo’s strong position and success. He has been a critical partner and friend and I am positive that he will take PepsiCo to new and greater heights in the years to come,” she added.
