Rajkot: Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper earned his 24th Test century against West Indies on Day 2 of the 1st Test in Rajkot. Kohli is now the second fastest to 24 Test hundreds, having reached the figure in 123 innings. Kohli struck up his hundred in 187 balls which included eight boundaries.
Prior to that, only Don Bradman has taken lesser number of innings (66) to reach 24 Test hundreds.
This is Kohli’s 17th century as a Test captain. It is also his fourth Test hundred in this year. Kohli has 24 tons from 72 Tests while Virender Sehwag is fifth on the list with 23 tons from 103 Tests
Kohli is now fourth in the list for most Test centuries by Indians. Sachin Tendulkar leads the charts with 51 centuries, Rahul Dravid is second with 36 centuries while Sunil Gavaskar is third with 34.
Earlier, Rishabh Pant also scored his maiden Test fifty and was on his way to his second ton till he was dismissed on 92.
The opening day was dominated by Prithvi Shaw (134 off 154), who became the second youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut.
