Rajkot: The Indian Test team earned a massive victory as they outclassed West Indies by an innings and 272 runs on Day 3 of the Rajkot Test match on Saturday. The hosts are now one win away from clinching the two-match series.
The Windies were dismissed for 196 in the final session while following on. They were bowled out for 181 in their first innings, while India scored 649-9 before declaring the first innings.
Kuldeep Yadav was the star for India in the second innings as he picked up a maiden five-wicket haul to register his best figures of 5/57. Kuldeep also became the second Asian after Sri Lankan Lakshan Sandakan picked a five-wicket haul in the traditional format of the game.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja finished with figures of 3/35, whereas Ashwin’s final spell read 2/71. Jadeja, also scored his maiden international century during India’s only innings.
Earlier on Day 2, Indian skipper Virat Kohli earned his 24th Test century against West Indies. Kohli is now the second fastest to 24 Test hundreds, having reached the figure in 123 innings.
The opening day was dominated by Prithvi Shaw (134 off 154), who became the second youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut.
