London: In the 2nd Test against England at Lord’s here on Sunday, India faced a loss in the match by 159 runs and an innings. This match gave a 2-0 lead to England in the five-match Test series.
The rain affected match was led by 193 runs by England, India collapsed at 130 in 47 overs in the second innings.
England resumed the match at an overnight score of 356 for six, declared their first innings at 396. Which meant the hosts had declared on 396-7 with Chris Woakes finishing on 137 not out .
James Anderson (4-23) once again toyed with the opposition, taking his match tally to nine, and equally effective was Stuart Broad (4-44).
India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (33) and Hardik Pandya (26) made a 55-run partnership for the seventh wicket, while other batsmen had a hard time facing the seam bowling. Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya claimed 3 wickets each while Ishant Sharma took one.
Team India was all out in their first innings for 107 on Day 2 as the opening day’s game was washed out due to rain.
Chris Woakes received player of the match award.
The third Test of the five-match series will be held at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
