Bhubaneswar: A much awaited event for adventure sport lovers, the fifth edition of the three-day India Surf Festival (ISF) is all set to begin from today. In a joint effort of Rangers Adventure Foundation (RAF) and Surfing Yogis at Ramchandi beach in Konark, said the organizer and RAF Founder, Sanjay Samantaray.
He said every care has been taken towards making the event safe and interesting. Around 70 Indians and 30 foreigners from 15 different countries are taking part in the event. Around 50 Indians will participate in the Asian Surfing Championship and Stand-up Paddle boat Championship. The event will also feature skim boarding for the first time along with various water sports. While four participants from Phillipines will be seen performing skim boarding, 15 participants from Active 8 Sports Association of Pune and 22 participants from Long Board Crew India of Mumbai will take part in the long boarding skate and also in the workshop that will be conducted simulatenously.
Among the various adventurous water sports included in the India Surf Festival beach volley ball, slack lining, zip lining, skurfing, parasailing, para motor ride, kite surfing will be hosted along with beach sports, surfing music, surfing art as other major attractions this year.
Like every year, Alina from Spain will conduct the stand-up paddle championship and would train the local residents near Kusabhadra river in a workshop with 12 stand-up boards. High security arrangements are made with expectation of more number of visitors.
Samantaray further said, the event with an eco-friendly approach, will surf for the cause “Carbon negative, Earth positive.” The three day event will continue till November 14.
