Bangalore: India pulled out a stunner against Australia winning the second Test by 75 runs at the M Chhinnaswamy stadium here thanks to Ravichandran Ashwin’s five wicket haul. The host team had set a target of 188 for the visitors who were bowled out for 112.
Earlier, on the first day India could manage only 189 falling victim to Australian spinner Nathan Lyon who had enviable figures of 8/50. But a brilliant bowling attack by Ravindra Jadeja who grabbed six wickets and a great effort by Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Ashwin restricted the Aussie total to 276.
Indian batsmen Lokesh Rahul, Cheteswar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane’s half centuries helped India to gather a target of 188 despite Hazelwood’s 6/67.
Showing great grit and courage, the Indian bowlers put up a wonderful performance to bowl out Australia for 112. Ashiwn’s 6/41 got him his 25th five wicket haul, the fastest by any bowler.
The series is now leveled at 1-1.
