Dhaka: India colts beat Sri Lanka by 144 runs in the finals of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2018 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on Sunday to clinch the Asia Cup title.
The boys in blue scored 304 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and set a competitive target of 305 for the Lankans.
Chasing the target of 305 was not easy for the Sri Lankan youngsters as they buckled under pressure. The India bowlers bundled out the Lankans for 160 in 38.4 overs. Left-arm spinner Harsh Tyagi was the pick of India attack with his superb six-wicket haul.
Although Navod Paranavithana played like a warrior towards the end it wasn’t enough to overhaul the huge score put up by India.
India won the first five U-19 Asia Cup titles, but could not reach the semi-finals in the last edition in 2017 held in Malaysia.
