Bhubaneswar: With the foundation of a skill development and incubation centre being laid at the Utkal University campus on Wednesday, launching a startup may soon become hassle-free for its students.
The centre will help budding entrepreneurs set up their own businesses and also provide the requisite training for the same. The centre will have all infrastructure facilities for startups.
“We are planning to begin with 10 students, who will be selected on the basis of impressive business models,” said vice chancellor Ashok Das. The incubation centre, to be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 1.74 crore, will be funded by Nalco and be completed within a year, he said.
Confirming this Nalco CMD T K Chand said, “Nalco will provide all support to the Utkal University as a part of the industry-academia tie-up and facilitate the setting up successful business models.”
Spread across 15,000 square feet, the centre will have boast of a free office space, internet and other facilities. Students from various fields, including commerce and agriculture management, can be a part of the centre. Progressive farmers too will have enough scope to experiment with ideas.
The university has also decided to sign a MoU with Hyderabad-based Incubation Business Hub, to develop skill development courses and trades for which training would be imparted in the centre.
