Bhubaneswar: A joint team of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) today demolished an area in front of the ISKCON temple under Nayapalli police limits in Bhubaneswar.

The force came to action after the authorities found the encroachment as the reason for waterlogging near the NH-16.

According to sources, taking note to the illegal construction, a joint team of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) started demolition of the illegal encroachments including a memorial (samadhi peeth) in front of the ISKCON temple.

Earlier, the BMC had issued a show-cause notice to the temple administration and manager of Hotel Presidency in this regard.

The authorities in the notice had informed them about the encroachment and unauthorised construction of shops on the land earmarked as ‘Right of Way’ adjoining the NH, mentioning that the encroachment prevents the flow of stormwater and causes a sanitary condition in the area.
