Mumbai: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer horror comedy ‘Stree’ opened at Rs 6.82 crore at the box office and it looks like the film will pick up the pace during the weekend.
The earnings on the first day are being attributed to both its unique storyline based on an urban-legend Nale Ba. Also, the occupancy in the theatres for ‘Stree’ on its opening day was recorded around 30% in the morning shows.
The film has been appreciated by both critics and audiences for its comic timing and refreshing content. The movie is off to a great start is currently the 12th highest opener of the year.
The film has been receiving mostly positive reviews from the critics. The ensemble cast of the film has been receiving much appreciation and that will certainly add to the word of mouth popularity of the film.
‘Stree’ revolves around the story of three friends in the town of Chanderi, where the spirit of a woman kidnaps and hunts men during certain days of the year. The movie also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles.
For everyone associated with ‘Stree’, this is a jackpot since the reviews are consistently good to very good, and so is the audience word of mouth. Rajkummar Rao is assured of the biggest commercial success of his career and Shraddha Kapoor can shrug off her earlier disappointments. As for producers Raj & DK, they can breathe easy after their last year’s directorial outing A Gentleman.
