Bhubaneswar: A high level meeting on tackling the Maoist insurgency in the state was held today at the DGP camp office. Operation and combing will be intensified in Mao affected areas in the state, it was decided.
DGP KB Singh, CRPF additional DG Kuldip Singh, Director Intelligence Sunil Roy and IG Operation Manoj Chhabra discussed the policy to combat Maoists during the meeting. In the four Maoist afflicted districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi operation and combing will be intensified, the top cops decided. CRPF additional DG Singh has offered full support in the operation against Maoists.
The meeting was held as a courtesy discussion as CRPF additional DG Singh was on a visit to Odisha, informed DGP KB Singh. “The state Mao cadre is inactive now but neighbouring Maoist groups are infiltrating and camping in these four districts in particular. Hence, the operations against Maoist forces will be increased and for this we have asked CRPF additional DG Singh for two more CRPF platoons and a helicopter,” KB Singh said.
