Rayagada: Heavy downpour for the past 24-hours has created flood like situation in Rayagada district with as many as 40 villages submerged in flood water.
The flood water has engulfed many roads in the district cutting the remote villages off the mainland. Reportedly, the flood has left more than 5000 village-dwellers surrounded with the flood water.
Meanwhile, landslides have also blocked some major roads bringing the vehicular movement to a grinding halt. Reportedly, a landslide in Raghubari ghat in Rayagada has disrupted road connectivity to 40 villages in the district
Incessant rain along with landslides has blocked roads connecting Raghubari to Patarapada, Haripur, and Dimiriguda, said a source.
Similarly, the Angudi Bridge in Boudh district has been submerged with the water flowing 4-feet above the bridge. The deluge has disconnected movement of vehicles on Kantamala-Ghantapada route on the State Highway 41.
